Originally
covering 2000 acres of highland in the Central Province
of the Island, the family Tea Estate now spreads over
250 acres of the original land, in accordance to the Land
Regulations Law passed in 1970s. Established in 1952 by
the Wickramasinghe Family, the Eila Estate, located at
Deraniyagala, about 60 miles from Colombo, grows the renowned
Sri Lankan hill country tea and caters to both the local
and foreign markets, with high quality blended Tea Products
quality tested and hygienically packed under stringent
control.
The Tea leaves plucked off the Wichy tea fields are withered,
rolled, fully fermented and gently dried until Ceylon
Black Tea is produced
